ASHENEWS reports that 2,267 people with special needs sat for the 2024 National Examinations Council (NECO) Senior Secondary School Certificate internal examinations (SSCE).
The Registrar/Chief Executive, Professor Dantani Wushishi disclosed this while briefing journalists on the release of the 2024 SSCE internal results in Minna.
Wushishi said that the examination body has put in measures to ensure that people with special needs do not find it difficult to write the examinations.
“1,103 candidates with hearing impairment, 348 candidates with visual impairment, 342 candidates with albinism, 237 candidates with autism and 236 candidates with low vision sat for the 2024 NECO internal examinations”, he said.
Speaking further, the Registrar said that the examination body blacklisted 21 Supervisors in 12 states and de-recognized one school in Ekiti state for mass cheating in two core subjects and one science subject.
According to him, the Supervisors were involved in various unpalatable attitudes which include poor supervision, aiding and abetting, abscondment, extortion, drunkenness and negligence.
Announcing the results, the Registrar said that 1,376,423 candidates registered for the examinations out of which 1,367,736 sat for the examination.
“The number of candidates with five Credits and above including English and Mathematics is 828,284 representing 60.55 per cent. The number of candidates with five Credits and above irrespective of English and Mathematics is 1,137,597 representing 83.90 per cent.”
He said that the results were released 55 days after the last written paper adding that this reinforces the determination of the examinatiin body for prompt release of results.
