Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has signed the ₦545.2 billion 2026 Appropriation Bill passed by the State House of Assembly into law.

The budget, tagged “Budget of Strategic Consolidation,” was signed on Monday at the Government House in Lafia.

Sule commended the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Dr Danladi Jatau, and other lawmakers for the speedy passage of the budget. He also appreciated the collaboration between the executive and legislative arms of government and urged that it be sustained in the overall interest of the state’s development.

The governor assured residents that the signing of the budget would translate into more people-oriented projects, programmes, and policies across the state. He pledged effective implementation of the budget with strict adherence to its provisions.

Sule further called on all stakeholders to contribute meaningfully towards realising the vision and aspirations of the state’s founding fathers.

In his remarks, Speaker of the House of Assembly, Dr Danladi Jatau, described the timely passage and signing of the budget as significant in the history of Nasarawa State. He pledged the Assembly’s continued commitment to promoting policies and legislation that would enhance development and improve the welfare of the people.

“Today is another special day in the history of the state. The budget was presented to the House on November 26, and during the presentation, we promised to pass it before the end of 2025. We fulfilled that promise on December 23,” Jatau said.

He added that the budget went through all legislative processes, including committee reviews, before its passage into law, and called for sustained collaboration among the three arms of government.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Munirat Abdullahi, presented an overview of the budget and its breakdown.

According to her, the total 2026 budget stands at ₦545,182,100,910.14, with ₦316.27 billion allocated to capital expenditure and ₦228.72 billion to recurrent expenditure.

She disclosed that the House of Assembly increased the budget by ₦27.6 billion from the ₦517.5 billion initially presented by the governor, bringing the total size to ₦545.2 billion.
