The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has passed four Bills into law in order to fast track development across the state.
Ibrahim Abdullahi, the Speaker of the House, announced the passage of the bills into law during plenary on Wednesday in Lafia.
He listed them as a Bill for a Law to Repeal the Nasarawa State Bureau of Statistics, Law No. 84 of 2012, and Re-Enact Same 2022 and Other Matters Related Thereto.
The speaker said that the bill, if assented to by the governor, would help the state government in collecting qualitative data in planning purposes for development.
He also announced the passage into law a Bill For a Law to Amend Nasarawa State Customary Courts Law and Other Matters Connected Therewith.
He said that the bill has given a 10 years window period to judges of Customary Courts without a Degree in Law to obtain the qualification to enable them fit in the profession.
The speaker also announced the passage into law of a Bill for a Law to Repeal and Re-Enact the Nasarawa State House of Assembly Service Commission Law and Other Related Matters.
He said that the bill would strengthen the service commission and enhance effective service delivery.
Abdullahi further announced into the passage into law a Bill for a Law to Provide for the Supply and Sanitation of Water in Nasarawa State and other Matters Connected Therewith.
He explainsaid that bill would ensure provision of hygienic water and ensure environmental cleanliness across the state.
The speaker directed the Clerk of the House to produce clean copies of the Bills for Gov. Abdullahi Sule’s assent.
Earlier, Tanko Tunga (APC-Awe North), the Majority Leader of the House, moved motions for the Bills to scale third readings.
Mr Abel Bala (PDP-Nassarawa Eggon West), the Minority Leader, seconded the motions.
The House unanimously passed the bills into third readings snd passage.
