The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Amb. Ismail Yusuf, has commended the Nigerian media contingent in Saudi Arabia for their role in the 2026 Hajj exercise.
Yusuf made the commendation in Makkah on Sunday, stating that the professionalism and efficiency displayed by Nigerian journalists in reporting the exercise were particularly impressive.
“Thank you for the work you have done so far. I am very impressed with the quality of your reports.
I felt it was important to meet with you and personally convey the appreciation of the commission. I want to commend your expertise and professionalism, especially under extreme stress,” he said.
He added that NAHCON is undertaking a series of reforms aimed at improving future Hajj operations.
“These reforms also include creating a more conducive environment for the media,” Yusuf noted.
He acknowledged the efforts of the journalists, saying, “We know we do not have the resources to fully compensate you, but we recognize the hazards involved and how far you sometimes have to trek. We are very pleased with your professionalism and patience.”
Additionally, Prof. Abubakar Yagawwal, NAHCON’s Commissioner for Personnel, Research, Information, and Library Services, thanked the journalists for their professional and moral support during the Hajj.
“We appreciate your efforts in reporting the Hajj activities and operations.
This year, most of your reports have been very positive, and we thank you sincerely,” he stated.
