The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has officially approved five air carriers to transport Nigerian pilgrims for the 2027 Hajj exercise, following a rigorous vetting process.
According to an official circular issued by NAHCON management, the selected air carriers are:
- Air Peace Limited
- Flynas
- Max Air Limited
- Saudi Air
- UMZA Aviation Services Limited
Selection criteria and regulatory mandates
The commission confirmed that the airlines were chosen following an evaluation by the Aviation Screening Committee, which assessed applicants based on regulatory safety compliance, operational capacity, and financial stability.
Final clearance remains subject to the execution of airlift agreements with NAHCON, alongside full compliance with regulations set by both the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the Saudi General Authority on Civil Aviation (GACA).
Operational Guidelines for Pilgrims
NAHCON noted that passenger allocations and flight schedules will be coordinated directly with respective State Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Boards and the approved air operators.
Under the 2027 operational guidelines, all selected carriers must adhere to strict protocols:
- Digital Integration: Flight tickets must be linked directly to pilgrims’ Nusuk-Masar data.
- Baggage Allowances: Pilgrims will be restricted to a single main luggage piece weighing up to 32kg, plus an 8kg hand luggage allowance.
- Safety & Service Standards: All operators are expected to observe mandatory aviation safety standard guidelines throughout the airlift exercise.
NAHCON called on state agencies, pilgrims, and key stakeholders to cooperate with the designated airlines to ensure a smooth, safe, and comfortable journey for all participants.
