The Kaduna State Executive Council (KSEC) has approved several policies and projects aimed at strengthening security, improving education and healthcare services, and accelerating infrastructure development across the state.
The approvals were announced on Thursday during a post-Executive Council briefing led by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Ahmed Maiyaki.
A key decision was the approval of the Kaduna State Safety, Security, and Violence-Free Schools Policy, designed to create a safe and conducive learning environment for pupils, students, and teachers.
Mukhtar Ahmed, the Commissioner for Planning and Budget, stated that the policy underscores Gov. Uba Sani’s commitment to protecting children and safeguarding investments in education.
The council also approved the procurement of additional security kits and safety gear for the Kaduna State Vigilance Service (KADVS) to enhance security operations and strengthen personnel deployment to identified flashpoints across the state.
Speaking on this development, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Suleiman Shuaibu, said the initiative would bolster community-based security efforts and complement ongoing measures to protect lives and property.
In the health sector, the council approved a bill to establish the Kaduna State Private Health Services Regulatory Authority and directed that it be transmitted to the State House of Assembly for legislative consideration.
Health Commissioner Umma Ahmed explained that the proposed authority would regulate private healthcare facilities through licensing, accreditation, inspections, and enforcement of standards to ensure quality healthcare delivery.
Additionally, the council approved the reconstruction of Giwa Township Road and Shika Township Road in Giwa Local Government Area.
Audu Na Audu, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Works and Infrastructure, said these projects would improve connectivity, stimulate economic activity, and enhance access to essential services for residents.
The council also approved the dereservation of 3,120 hectares of land within the Giwa Forest Reserve in Kagarko Local Government Area to facilitate strategic development initiatives.
Environment Commissioner Abubakar Buba said this decision aligns with existing laws and government policies.
Maiyaki concluded that the approvals reflect the administration’s commitment to strengthening security, improving public service delivery, and promoting sustainable development across Kaduna State.
