An Osun State High Court sitting in Ikirun, headquarters of Ifelodun local government area of the state, has ordered Dauda Ajadosu from parading himself as the Eesa of Obaagun.

The court also held that the selection and appointment of Dauda Ajadosu as the Eesa of Obaagun by the Olobaagun of Obaagun, Oba Jimoh Okunade Kayode II should not be recognized until the determination of the suit before it.

The court presided over by Justice Jide Falola held that the position of Eesa of Obaagun remains vacant until the matter is determined.

Ajadosu who hails from Oniayowo lineage of Aro’s compound, Obaagun was appointed the Eesa after the demise of Chief Amos  Olawuyi.

The Eesa Momoje compound had challenged the choice of Ajadosu on the ground that he’s not a part of the family entitled to the Chieftaincy title of Eesa as he does not hail from Eesa Momoje compound.

Counsel to the family, Mr N.O Sanusi urged the court to nullify the selection, appointment and installation of Ajadosu who is a descendant of the Oniayowo’s lineage of Aros compound , arguing that the chieftaincy title of Eesa is reserved for the descendants of Eesa Momoje.

However, counsel to Ajadosu, Mr Adesina opposed the plea, claiming that the  Oniayowo lineage is also eligible to hold the Chieftaincy title.

But the trial judge, Justice Falola restrained Ajadosu from parading himself as the Eesa of Obaagun pending the determination of the court.

It would be recalled that members of the Eesa Momoje compound in  Obaagun had earlier protested against the appointment of Ajadosu as the new Eesa of the town.

The Olobaagun of Obaagun recently appointed Ajadosu, who was alleged to have hailed from different compounds as the Eesa of the town.

The Eesa who is the second in command to the Olobaagun of Obaagun is also said to be the head of the kingmakers in the town.

Members of the Eesa’s compound joined by other residents of the town had  earlier protested the appointment of Ajadosu and called on the traditional ruler to reverse his action before the court took the decision.

Meanwhile, there was wild jubilation in Obaagun immediately after the court judgment as members of the Eesa Momoje compound trouped out to celebrate the judgment.

Joined by other residents of the town, the jubilant went round major streets in the town singing and rejoicing to express their gratitude.
