The Jigawa State House of Assembly has passed the 2026 Appropriation Bill of ₦901.84 billion for the services of the state government, with some amendments.
The passage of the bill on Tuesday followed the adoption of the report of the House Standing Committee on Appropriation at a plenary session presided over by the Speaker, Haruna Aliyu, in Dutse.
Presenting the report, the Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Ibrahim Hamza, said the House standing committees had earlier engaged all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) for the assessment and defence of their respective budget estimates.
Hamza said the committee was satisfied with the allocations made for the provision of infrastructure and social amenities to the people in the 2026 fiscal year.
The Assembly also passed ₦288.848 billion for the services of the 27 local government councils in the state.
Hamza called on the Ministry for Local Government to ensure that the chairmen of the councils adhere strictly to the implementation of their respective budgets for the wellbeing of the rural populace.
Governor Umar Namadi had, on November 25, presented a ₦901.84 billion budget to the Assembly for consideration and approval.
