A Media Group, Arewa Media Writers (AMW), has appointed a Deputy-Editor-In-Chief (DEIC), of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Bashir Rabe Mani, as one of its Patrons.
The Appointment Letter was presented to Mani, who is also the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, at a ceremony held in Sokoto, on Wednesday.
Presenting the Letter, the Sokoto State Chairman of the Group, Bashar Mustapha, said that, the gesture was in recognition of Mani’s track records of service, as well as wealth of experience in Journalism.
Mustapha stated that, the Group boasts of over two hundred members in the state, spread in seventeen, out of the twenty three local governments.
The Chairman also explained that, the Group aims to ensure effective reportage of myriad of local, national and international events.
Mustapha, particularly disclosed that, the Members of the Media Group were committed to tackling the menace of sensationalism, fake news and yellow Journalism, especially on the conventional and social media platforms.
Responding, Mani commended the Group for the highly cherished appointment and promised to do his best, to facilitate all it’s activities.
Mani further admonished them to always respect the ethics of the profession, Media law and the Nigerian Constitution,while conducting their routine activities .
He also welcomed the birth of the Group about four months ago, advising them to always inform their national body based in Gombe, Gombe state, about their activities.
He also advised them to always put the unity and peace of Nigeria, as well as her socioeconomic prosperity, in their reportage.
