Kulu Shagari Girl-Child Initiative on Wednesday has donated relief materials to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Sokoto.
The items which included food, toiletries, Indomie noodles, sanitary pads, detergents, clothing materials, shoes and others, were donated by Kulu Shagari, the founder and wife of the former Sokoto State Deputy Governor, Mukhtari Shagari.
According to the daughter of late former Shehu Shagari, the initiative was part of her efforts to ease the suffering of the IDPs, whose lives has been touched by the lingering banditry in the state.
Kulu called on all wealthy individuals to support the IDPs in order to ease their suffering, adding “This could affect anyone or his relative.
“We have been doing this for quite some time because we realised that there is no better time to assist the less privileged than now.
“The victims are facing a lot of hardship due to the prevailing economic and security challenges in the country,” she said.
Appreciating her gesture on behalf of other IDPs, the leader, Salisu Wanzam, commended Shagari for identifying with them.
Wanzam said that the camp consists of people displaced from Gundumi village in Goronyo local government area of the state.
