The Arch Bridge Care Foundation, a Christian Non-Governmental Organisation, has empowered 234 widows in Ribah community, Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the empowerment outreach, which featured the distribution of food items and words of encouragement, was held on Tuesday in Ribah.
Speaking at the event, the Kebbi Coordinator of the foundation, Mr Markus Mathew-Danwayo, said the initiative was designed to uplift widows and give them renewed hope in the face of life’s challenges.
According to him, the programme aims to promote self-worth, unity and peaceful coexistence among residents of the community and Nigerians at large.
“In addition to providing food items, we also shared messages of hope and salvation with the beneficiaries, encouraging them not to lose faith despite the difficulties they may be facing,” he said.
Mathew-Danwayo explained that the outreach was part of the foundation’s ongoing humanitarian efforts to support vulnerable groups and foster social cohesion across communities in the state.
He added that the foundation planned to sustain the initiative, with more outreaches being considered in other parts of the state to extend support to additional vulnerable persons and promote love, unity and compassion.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs Hannatu Dantani expressed appreciation to the foundation for the gesture, describing it as timely and impactful.
She said the outreach had brought joy and renewed hope to the widows, while also strengthening their sense of belonging within the community.
