ASHENEWS reports that President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Dr Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu as a member of the High-level Advisory Committee (HILAC).
This online platform further reports that Dr. Bagudu is the founder and Chairperson of Medicaid Cancer Foundation and wife of Kebbi state governor.
She disclosed this while reacting to the appointment on Monday evening.
“This scale up will not only support financial independence to women across Nigeria, but has positive impact on other sectors like health and education.”
According to her, the step up by Buhari was a breakthrough for the much needed gender and adolescent inclusion in the society.
She listed the lead ministries where women are head as Women Affairs, Finance, Education, Budget and National Planning.
Dr. Bagudu commended the Ministers, adding that she is eagerly awaiting for work to commence.
On HILAC, she said the other members were drawn from multi-sectors and are expected to provide support to three programmes, including National Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE), Adolescent Girls’ Learning and Empowerment (AGILE)and Nigeria For Women Project (NFWP-SU).
“Kebbi State is one of the beneficiary pilot states of the NFWP-SU,saying that it us very successful,” she while stating that no fewer than 70,000 women have benefited from the Nigeria For Women Project in the state.
In the same vein, all the women were each given N60,000 as start up grants to establish their various businesses.
