The Senate Committee on the North Central Development Commission (NCDC) has approved ₦140 billion as budgetary allocation for the Commission’s 2026 fiscal year.
Chairman of the Committee, Titus Zam, disclosed this following the committee’s budget defence session at the National Assembly of Nigeria on Monday, saying the funding is aimed at accelerating development across the North Central region.
He explained that the approved funds would be deployed to critical infrastructure, security interventions, agricultural development, and humanitarian support programmes targeted at addressing the challenges confronting states in the zone.
Zam reiterated the committee’s commitment to transparency and accountability in the utilisation of public resources, stressing that the Commission must comply strictly with budgetary provisions and deliver measurable impact to communities.
He added that the intervention agency is expected to prioritise projects that drive economic growth, tackle displacement arising from insecurity, and improve access to basic social services.
The committee assured stakeholders of sustained legislative oversight to ensure effective implementation of the 2026 budget in line with the statutory mandate of the North Central Development Commission.
