President-elect Joe Biden on Friday, spoke with the Prime Minister of Italy, Giuseppe Conte.
The president-elect, in a phone call, thanked Prime Minister Conte for his congratulations and conveyed his commitment to strengthen relations with Italy and revitalize the trans-Atlantic relationship, including through NATO and the EU.
Biden told Prime Minister Conte that he looked forward to working together during Italy’s chairmanship of the G20 next year.
He also welcomed the opportunity to cooperate on a range of shared interests, including containing COVID-19 and improving global health security, pursuing a sustainable economic recovery, and tackling the threat of climate change.
