The Chattered Institute of Transport Administration has advised Nigerian government to ensure the appointment of only professionals to head specialized institutions in order to promote industrial harmony in the country.
The Deputy National President, Umar Iya Gulak gave the advised in an interview with newsmen in Kaduna.
Gulak, who expressed dismay over the appointment of a pharmacologist as Head of the Federal University of Transport Technology Daura, urged the government to consider its reversal to avoid unnecessary controversy.
“The incoming administration should ensure from the onset appointment of professionals into specialized Institutions to ensure round pegs in round holes.
“Jobs of engineering should be given engineers to manage and medical institutions should be manned by medically trained personnel and this should apply to all sectors including education, aviation among others”.
He also called for the revocation of the power purchase agreement of 2015 to check alleged non-performance which hitherto caused untold hardship for consumers despite billions of Naira spent to improve the sector.
Gulak who is also an All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholder from Adamawa state and contested the Northern Senatorial seat worried over the appointment that might the development of the transport institution.
He prayed for the successful inauguration of the incoming administration of President-elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and advised the opposition politicians to avoid acts that may derail the current democracy.
