Governor Abubakar Sani-Bello of Niger, has congratulated Dr. Akinwumi Adesina on his re-election as President of African Development Bank (AfDB).

The Secretary to the Government of Niger State (SSG), Ahmed Matane, in a congratulatory message on behalf of the Governor, government and people of the state, described the re-election of Dr. Adesina as a clear testimony of hard work and commitment in motivating a bold reform agenda of the Bank.

“The re-election of former Minister of Agriculture and former Vice President of Policy and Partnership for the Alliance for Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), would no doubt, accelerate Africa’s agricultural value chain development and food security.

“Niger State Government is desirous of partnering with the leadership of Dr. Adesina in AfDB in order to utilize its vast Agricultural potentials being the State with largest arable land and water bodies in the country,” the statement reads.

Matane explained that the President of AfDB during his first term in office as the head of the International Organization, distinguished himself as a good Ambassador of Nigeria in particular and Africa as a whole.

He wished him God’s guidance in the discharge of this important responsibility.

It would be recalled that Dr. Adesina was re-elected on Thursday, August 27 this year, during the bank’s 55th Annual Meetings which was held via Zoom due to COVID-19 restrictions and Dr. Akinwumi Adesina will be sworn-in on Tuesday, September 1, to serve another five year term.
