ASHENEWS reports that the Chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC), Igbogbo-Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), in Ikorodu Division, Lagos state, Abayomi Adelakun, on Monday, inaugurated new officers of the CDC Zone 4, in Baiyeku area of the LCDA.

The low-keyed event took place at Woofers relaxation center, Maternity, Baiyeku at about 3.p.m.

The Chairman of Odumade Sholumade 2, Community Development Association (CDA), Macaulay, Femi Adelaja was sworn in as the zonal chairman alongside 14 other officers.

In his address, Adelakun said the inauguration was in line with Section 24, Sub section B of the CDC Constitution.

Citing himself as an example, he admonished the new officers to be committed in their new assignment without looking for gains as the tasks are voluntary and only God can reward them.

While clarifying the roles of CDAs and that of traditional leaders (Baales) of any community, he said the role of CDAs is purely administrative while that of Baales is cultural and none should contradict the other.

He urged members of the zone and their new leaders to live in peace and take the zone to an amiable height.

Adelakun told them to resolve all grievances in the zone.

He added that grievances at the zone level should be reported to the CDC and not to the council or law enforcement operatives.

The CDC chairman said, “All executive members being inaugurated today should know that the job is voluntary and no salary is attached to it but we always get our blessings from God.

“Kindly look unto God as your source of help. Let me clarify the relationship between Joint CDAs and Baales; according to the CDC Constitution, Baales are supposed to be the patrons of Joint CDAs.

“While Baales handle the cultural aspects of the communities, the role of Joint CDAs is purely administrative.”

As for the newly-elected officers, Adelakun said, “I was duly informed that all the zones in the CDC Zone 4 have met and agreed on the new set of leaders and that is why we are here.

“A zone is an administrative arm of the CDC. In case you are aggrieved, let the CDC know about it because the local government is not the first port of call likewise the Police.”

As for the tenure of the new officers, he said they will remain in office until the state government dissolves CDC officers across the state.

In his acceptance speech, Adelaja thanked the zone for the opportunity given him to serve, saying that he will work with the elders and members of the zone to rejig and unite it.

In his words of admonition, CDC Treasurer, Fatai Gbadamosi called for unity in the zone.

Fourteen other officers that were inaugurated include; Secretary, Graceland CDA, Mr. Tunde Momoh as 1st Vice Chairman, Secretary, Newlife CDA, Mr. Lanre Obanisola as General Secretary, Mr. Lanre Fadeyi, Secretary, Goodnews CDA as Public Relations Officer and Social Secretary, City of Love, Mrs. Eunice Omosola George as Treasurer of the zone, among others.
