A Coalition of 19 Northern States Progressive Students’ Forum, has endorsed Sokoto state governor, Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto state as its preferred candidate for the 2023 presidential election.

Muhammad Inuwa, the spokesperson for the coalition said this at a ceremony in honour of Tambuwal in Dutse on Monday.

Inuwa said the forum took time to evaluate the agendas of various aspirants in the 2023 presidential race, before endorsing Tambuwal as its choice.

“The forum had the opportunity to observe and evaluate the prospective and agenda of various aspirants seeking to contest for the presidency comes 2023 general elections.

“The coalition was able to identify a candidate who is honest, pragmatic and insightful into national issues, particularly concerning education and youth activities and his willingness to examine the issues and listen to the public.

“This makes him different from other aspirants in terms of national unity, economic development and all indices of development.

“At this juncture, ladies and gentlemen and great Nigerian students, on behalf of the coalition of the 19 Northern State Students’ Progressive Forum, I want to use this medium to endorse the candidature of Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, the Executive Governor of Sokoto state for the reasons stated earlier,” he said.

The spokesperson called on the students to canvass for support for the governor by informing others about his qualities and capabilities in order to raise 10 million votes for him.

In his remarks, the Sokoto State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Bashir Usman who represented the governor, said age was one of the factors people considered in electing a Nigerian president.

“Other factors people can consider while electing a president, include trajectory record of aspirant as individual, someone who has occupied public office, contributions to Nigerian development.

“And I believe as someone who understands Tambuwal, knows his records, his journey as a lawyer, legislator and as governor, that he has what it takes to be Nigeria’s president,” Usman said.
