The initiative aims to secure political and stakeholder commitment to adopting the One Health approach as a formal multi-sectoral framework for health security in Sokoto State. It also seeks to jointly define the plan’s vision, mission, strategic pillars, thematic objectives, and priority actions.
Participants are reviewing and refining draft sections of the strategic plan to ensure technical soundness and alignment with state, national, and global priorities.
In his opening remarks, State Project Coordinator, Sirajo Abubakar, said L-PRES considered it necessary to host the meeting to harmonize the initiative’s objectives and enhance operational standards. He urged participants to make meaningful contributions to the development and adaptation of the One Health strategy.
Lead facilitator, Dr. Bello Arkilla of the One Health Institute at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, explained that the plan will be formally validated and endorsed by relevant ministries, local government areas, partners, and civil society organizations upon completion.
