The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) says it has engaged its members in food crop production to promote food sufficiency and supply across the country.
Speaking on behalf of the Regional Farm Project Committee on Saturday in Akure, Pastor S.O. Ojo (JP) explained that the initiative aims to alleviate poverty and unemployment, which remain major concerns for RCCG globally.
The engagement, tagged “RCCG Ondo Region 39 On Farm Project,” includes a massive cassava plantation launched in early 2025 in Ondo West Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Ojo told reporters that harvesting alone has created job opportunities for many unskilled workers and unemployed youths.
He noted that the farming initiative stemmed from a directive by RCCG General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, to pastors at all levels of the church’s administration.
According to Ojo, some of the produce will reduce the financial burden of feeding congregations during RCCG conventions, while leftovers will support the church’s corporate social responsibility efforts and make food more affordable for host communities.
“The production process has been so encouraging that the yields have justified the purpose of the initiative,” he said.
“Arising from the huge success of the regional farm, other provincial farms should emulate this strategy to fully meet the vision’s essence.
“Our members are encouraged to key into this initiative and stir up community spirit to help our people and host communities.”
Ojo added that if pursued with the desired vigour, the target for each province would significantly project the church’s image as a pacesetter in food production and help alleviate people’s suffering.
