ASHENEWS reports that the Niger state government has allayed fears that it will displace some farmers with the introduction of farm estates in all the 25 local government areas of the state.
The state’s deputy governor, Yakubu Garba stated this when he visited some communities in the Bosso local government to assess arable lands for agricultural evolution.
This online platform reports that the state government has set a target to cultivate 10,000 hectares of arable land in each of the 25 local government areas of the state in line with its agricultural revolution agenda.
Garba urged them to take advantage of the initiative, noting that the initiative aims to integrate all existing settlements into the farm estate.
He urged them to key into the vision of the administration that seeks to allow for an efficient farming system.
He assured them that the proposed agricultural revolution would help farmers in the state to become self-reliant.
