The Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support (L-PRES) Project in Sokoto State has expressed its readiness to collaborate with associations directly involved in livestock production to enhance productivity across the state.
The State Project Coordinator, Sirajo Abubakar, disclosed this when he received the newly elected executives of the Resident Veterinary Doctors Association, Sokoto State chapter, during a courtesy visit to his office.
Abubakar emphasized that L-PRES remains committed to working with relevant stakeholders to drive livestock development—one of the project’s key priorities since inception.
He highlighted several L-PRES interventions aimed at supporting livestock farmers, including the establishment of sedentarized pastoral community centers in selected local government areas. According to him, these centers are already yielding positive results, benefiting both herders and their animals.
The coordinator also spoke on ongoing efforts to remodel abattoirs across the state to meet modern standards comparable to facilities across Nigeria and beyond.
Abubakar congratulated the new association executives on their emergence and assured them of L-PRES’s commitment to fostering a productive partnership to advance livestock development in the state.
Earlier, the newly elected President of the Resident Veterinary Doctors Association, Dr. Abubakar Umar Dingyadi, said the visit was to formally introduce the new leadership and seek collaboration with L-PRES in promoting livestock activities.
He commended the achievements of L-PRES and expressed the association’s willingness to work closely with the project for greater impact.
Other members of the executive present during the visit included the Secretary, Dr. Mohammad Nuradden Ibrahim; Treasurer, Dr. Murjanatu Musa; Publicity Secretary, Dr. Naziru Sani; and Welfare Officer, Dr. Aliyu Dikko.
