The Jigawa State Executive Council has approved N1.6 billion for the implementation of the Dry Season Workers’ Agricultural Support Programme 2026.
The programme is designed to provide workers with essential agricultural inputs, irrigation support, mechanization services, and extension services to maximize productivity during the dry season.
State Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sport and Culture, Mr Sagir Musa, disclosed this while briefing journalists after the council meeting on Tuesday in Dutse.
He said the initiative aims to boost crop yields, stabilize food supply, and reduce post-harvest losses across the state.

N853m approved for 86 federal housing units
The council also approved the purchase of 86 housing units from the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development at a total cost of N853,138,929.56.
According to the commissioner, the acquisition will address accommodation needs in the state, particularly for public servants and other beneficiaries.
The initiative aligns with the Namadi administration’s 12-Point Agenda on housing and urban development, which seeks to provide decent shelter, reduce housing deficits, and improve living standards.
“The sole aim is to expand access to affordable housing and enhance the welfare of citizens,” Musa added.
