The Agricultural Agenda Nigeria Initiative (AANI), in partnership with the Dogara Gyet Foundation (DGF), has launched an Agricultural Intervention Support Programme to empower women and youths in Kaduna State.
This was announced in a joint statement issued in Abuja on Monday by DGF Chairman Dogara Gyet and AANI National President Ephraim Audu.
The initiative, part of the Outgrow Hunger Project, targets 10 communities in Kachia and Jaba Local Government Areas, supporting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1 and 2 on poverty eradication and zero hunger.
The first phase of the programme has empowered at least 200 widows and young people involved in agriculture.
Beneficiaries received training in agribusiness development, entrepreneurship, climate-smart agriculture, climate change resilience, and agricultural value chains.
The training aimed to strengthen participants’ technical and business skills, increase their income, and promote sustainable farming practices resilient to climate challenges.
To ensure sustainability, beneficiaries were organized into cooperative clusters to improve access to microfinance, agricultural inputs, mechanization support, and other development financing.
The statement noted that this cooperative model would foster collective growth, improve market access, and enhance the economic resilience of smallholder farmers.
AANI and DGF reaffirmed their commitment to fighting poverty, improving food security, creating sustainable livelihoods, and transforming rural communities through inclusive agricultural development.
They emphasized that empowering women and youths is vital for building a resilient agricultural sector and achieving sustainable socio-economic progress.
“The initiative marks a significant step toward nurturing prosperous farming communities, reducing hunger, and enabling economic self-reliance for vulnerable populations in Kaduna and beyond,” the statement concluded.
“Together, we can outgrow hunger, eradicate poverty, and build a future of shared prosperity through agriculture.”
