The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed 13 bars and lounges across the state for allegedly causing persistent noise pollution and other environmental violations.
In a post on X, the agency said the enforcement exercise, carried out on Wednesday, was directed by the State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab.
According to the post, the operation covered parts of Lagos Island, including Admiralty Way in Lekki Phase 1, Wole Olateju Crescent in Lekki, and Babatunde Anjous Drive in Lekki.
The establishments shut down included lounges, restaurants, and bars such as D.Code Lounge, Farm City, Beer Barn Sports Bar, The Mood, Kingfisher, Bolivar, Red Bar, Terraform Bar, Ebar Metro, Mabayé Lounge & Restaurant, Native Tray Restaurant & Bar, Rekoja (Fired & Ice), and Ivy Bar.
The General Manager of LASEPA, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, restated the agency’s strong position against environmental offences, especially noise pollution, which he said poses serious risks to public health and community well-being.
“Our enforcement today sends a clear message that we are committed to protecting the environment and ensuring a healthier Lagos,” Ajayi said.
He urged business owners and residents to comply with environmental regulations, stressing LASEPA’s goal of creating a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable city free from pollution.
Just last week, the agency sealed 11 other establishments for similar offences.
