ASHENEWS reports that a heavy downpour, which lasted about three hours in the earlier hours of Saturday, killed at least four people, and submerged dozens of houses in Dakingari town of Suru local government area of Kebbi state.
A source in Dakingari town, Nasiru Nasco told our correspondent that those killed included a young boy, who drowned in the heavy flood; a young man, who died in efforts to save him the boy; the third man was killed by a collapsed building, while the fourth one died on his way back from the farm.
According to Nasco, many houses and roads constructed on the waterways were washed away by the flood.
“For many decades, we have not experienced this type of rainfall in the area; the rain fell for at least three hours nonstop,” Nasco said.
