Kebbe LGC presents 2025 budget of ₦3.7bn to Sokoto Assembly

The Kebbe local government council, on Wednesday, February 19, 2026, presented its 2025 budget proposal of ₦3,675,485,190.00 to the Sokoto State House of Assembly, with the environment, agriculture and health sectors receiving ₦132,749,000, ₦434,782,300, and ₦48,547,280, respectively.

The budget presentation, led by the Council Chairman, Abdullahi Yarima Kebbe, was by Section 162(8) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) and relevant state laws. Key council officials, including Council Secretary Shamsudeen Umar Maiakwai, the Director of Finance, and the Planning Officer accompanied Yarima.

Of the ₦3,675,485,190.00 budget proposal,

They appeared before the Joint House Committee on Local Government and Community Development as well as the Finance and Appropriation Committee, chaired by Sa’idu N. Ibrahim (Sabon Birnin South Constituency).

The chairman provided an overview of the projected revenue and expenditure for the 2025 fiscal year, highlighting key project implementation plans.

Key capital expenditure plans

Agriculture: Procurement of grains, agricultural chemicals, insecticides, and distribution of fertilizers.

Works and Transport: Construction of feeder roads within the local government area.

Religious Affairs: Construction of Mosques and Islamiyya schools.

Health and Environmental Protection: Construction and rehabilitation of dispensaries, as well as the provision of medical facilities for hospitals and dispensaries.

General Public Services: Various developmental initiatives aimed at improving local governance and service delivery.

Aminu Ibrahim (Deputy Clerk)

Usman Sambo Junaidu (Committee Secretary)

The Sokoto State House of Assembly is expected to review the budget proposal in detail before approval.
