The Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Council, Mr Abdullahi Olowa, on Monday toured some areas affected by flooding in the locality and promised swift intervention.
The tour, aimed at assessing the level of damage, followed devastating flooding in the area caused by persistent rainfall that rendered many residents homeless and destroyed valuables.
The inspection, conducted by canoe in the Araromi area and adjoining communities, revealed the extent of the devastation and the urgent need for intervention.

Olowa sympathised with the affected residents and assured them that the local government would engage relevant stakeholders to ensure prompt and lasting solutions.
The Chairman reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the safety and welfare of residents.
He said necessary measures would soon be put in place to mitigate the impact of the flooding and provide much-needed relief.
“It is our responsibility as a council to attend to emergencies such as this. However, it is also your obligation as residents to conduct social activities in a more environmentally friendly manner.
“Refrain from blocking water channels with structures and dispose of waste properly,” he added.
