ASHENEWS reports that the Zuru Divisional Police Station of the Kebbi state Command, has arraigned three suspected vandals before the Chief Magistrate Court 1, Birnin Kebbi.
The suspects Salmanu Muhammad, Sani Haruna and Kabiru Muhammad are charged for stealing N2,126,000 worth of aluminum conductor, belonging to the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO).
According to a statement by the management of KEDCO, mailed to ASHENEWS on Sunday, “the suspected vandals were apprehended by some community members at ‘Yar Magajiya village in Ribah local government area of Zuru Emirate with about 4,800 metres of aluminum conductor and were later handed over to the Nigerian Police, Zuru Division.
The Divisional Police Office, Zuru later transferred the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Police Headquarters in Birnin Kebbi where further investigations established prima facie case against the suspects,” the statement reads.
The suspects have been remanded in correctional centre till April 26, 2023 for further hearing.
