Prof. Amina Salihi-Bayero, Vice-Chancellor of Northwest University Kano, has announced that the National Universities Commission (NUC) granted full accreditation to five academic programmes.

This is contained in a statement issued on Monday by the university’s Head of Public Relations Unit, Abubakar Ibrahim.

Salihi-Bayero said the approval was conveyed in a letter dated April 7, signed by NUC Director of Accreditation, Mr. Abraham Chundusu, on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the commission.

According to the Vice-Chancellor, the accredited programmes are valid for five years following the commission’s assessment.

The programmes include M.Sc Accounting (Faculty of Social and Management Sciences), B.Sc Physiology (Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences), B.Sc Information and Communication Technology, MBBS (Faculty of Clinical Sciences), and B.Sc Physics (Faculty of Science).

“The accreditation status reflects the university’s commitment to high academic standards, quality teaching, research excellence, and adequate resources for programme delivery,” she said.

Salihi-Bayero described the achievement as a major milestone for the university and credited management, staff, students, council members, and other stakeholders for their support.

She assured the university community and the public of continued commitment to quality assurance and improvements in line with NUC standards and global best practices.
