The (IBBUL), Lapai, has promoted sixteen senior academic staff to the ranks of Professors and Readers (Associate Professors), reinforcing its commitment to academic excellence and research development.
The decision was approved at the institution’s 107th Regular Meeting of Senate, following the consideration of favorable reports from external assessors. The promotions, which take effect from October 1, 2025, were granted to staff who met the stringent academic and professional requirements set by the University’s Appointment and Promotion Committee and ratified by the Governing Council.
Out of the total number, eight academics were elevated to the rank of Professor. They include Dr. Abdulmalik Muhammad (Human Physiology), Dr. Ndasalihu Usman Abubakar (Library Science), Dr. Abdul Hadi Adeniyi Salahudeen (Arabic and Islamic Studies), Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Letswa (Political Science), Dr. Daniel Ibrahim (English), Dr. Abubakar Abdulkadir (Mathematics), Dr. Hadiza Muhammad Liman (Geography), and Dr. Mamman Saba Abdulkadir (History and International Studies).

Similarly, eight others were promoted to the rank of Reader. They are Dr. Isah Adamu (Public Administration), Dr. Kolo Alfa Idris (Adult Education), Dr. Abdullahi Ibrahim (Computer Science), Dr. Umar Musa Tanko (Chemistry), Dr. Muhammed Jibrin Ndejiko (Microbiology), Dr. Sidikat Shitu (Economics), Dr. Yunusa Audu (Biology), and Dr. Yahuza Danjuma Izom (Political Science).
The Senate noted that the promotions reflect the university’s sustained focus on advancing scholarship, enhancing research output, and strengthening its human capital base.
Vice-Chancellor, , congratulated the promoted staff, commending their dedication, resilience, and contributions to teaching, research, and community service.
He urged them to justify the confidence placed in them by further elevating the institution’s academic standards and mentoring younger scholars.
The development marks another milestone in IBBUL’s drive to build a competitive and globally relevant academic environment.
