Bauchi state governor, Bala Mohammed, has vowed to de-radicalise the youth in the state as well as empower them.
The governor made this known at a covers-action with youth and women groups to mark Nigeria’s 60th Independence Anniversary in Bauchi on Thursday.

According to Mohammed, all Ministries, Departments and Agencies, responsible for youth empowerment have been directed to come up with necessary skills acquisition programs.

This, he added, is in addition to the Kaura Empowerment program where one thousand tricycles were distributed.

“The youths de-radicalization program has gained acceptance as government has engaged youths hitherto engaged in Sara Suka into gainful ventures after they were counseled,” he said.

Mohammed called on the youths to get involved in politic but not as tools in the hands of politicians who will use them for their selfish reasons.

“Eschew all forms of delinquency and criminal behavior, assist law enforcement agents in the fight against kidnapping, and armed robbery”.

The Governor joined millions to celebrate 21 years of uninterrupted democracy in Nigeria.

“Democracy is good when it is backed by visible successes across all indices of human development”.

Similarly, he decried the presence of ghost workers in the civil service with particular to the ministry of education as well as the State Universal Education Board, SUBEB.

The governor said the education sector is undergoing radical transformation, especially with the introduction of Biometric capture to monitor staff attendance and punctuality.

“Despite my giant strides to improve the quality of education, my major challenge in the sector is the issue of ghost workers, there are discrepancies in staff payroll. We are working to rectify these discrepancies”.
