The All Progressives Congress (APC) has resolved to strengthen regular processes of information sharing on security management in states controlled by it.
This it said would enable governors of APC-controlled states to facilitate synergy of initiatives and proactive responses.
This is part of resolutions reached at the 12th quarterly meeting of Secretaries to Governments of APC-controlled states across the federation.
The communiqué of the meeting was made available to newsmen on Saturday in Abuja by Dr Salihu Lukman, Director-General Progressives Governors Forum (PGF).
According to the communiqué, the meeting which was hosted by Nasarawa Governor, Abdullahi Sule, had the theme:” Setting Enabling Framework for Implementation of PGF Policy Briefs”.
Its objective was to review the status of the implementation framework for promoting maternal and child nutrition in APC-controlled states and provide necessary guidelines to enhance the engagement of stakeholders.
The meeting also reviewed security challenges and noted initiatives being implemented by APC states to contain the situation.
It further recommended that APC states strengthened the security committees at Local Government levels and ensure that all stakeholders, especially traditional and religious leaders took more responsibility.
It said that such leaders should be made to be more accountable to the government in responding to security challenges.
The meeting urged APC-controlled states to continually mobilise resources for the management of security challenges and to strengthen the legal framework for the implementation of the Security Trust Fund.
It resolved that APC states would prioritise adequate support for working nursing mothers, including the adoption of six months maternity leave for nursing mothers to enhance exclusive breastfeeding.
“Issues of Maternal and Child Nutrition should be integrated into the Primary Healthcare Delivery Services.
“APC controlled states will strengthen coordination of initiatives to fast track implementation of Maternal and Child Nutrition programmes with a focus on health, education and agricultural sectors.
“The meeting notes with strong commendation, the renewed offensive by Nigerian security agencies against criminal elements across the country,” the communiqué said.
It reaffirmed the commitment of APC state governments to continue to work with the Federal Government under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari to ensure that every part of the country was safe.
It added that the meeting also resolved to continually share information, ideas and knowledge through its quarterly meetings and the PGF secretariat.
This, it said, would promote synergy across APC states and facilitate greater cooperation for sustainable development.
