Ex-COAS Faruk Yahaya denies terror-financing link, threatens legal action

Former Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Faruk Yahaya (rtd), has firmly dismissed allegations linking him to individuals accused of terror financing, describing the claims as false, malicious, and entirely baseless.

The allegations, purportedly made by retired Maj.-Gen. Danjuma Ali-Keffi, claimed that Yahaya maintained associations with suspected terror financiers during his tenure.

Yahaya, in a statement issued on Saturday by retired Brig.-Gen. Sani Usman, said the claims were fabricated with the intention of damaging his reputation and undermining his years of service to the nation.

According to the statement, Yahaya stressed that at no time in his military career — before, during, or after his service as Army Chief — did he have any direct or indirect link with individuals or entities associated with terrorism financing or activities that threaten Nigeria’s security.

He characterised the allegations as the product of a personal vendetta, noting that Ali-Keffi had longstanding grievances stemming from disciplinary measures taken against him while in service.

Yahaya also condemned the media platform that published the allegations, accusing it of failing to verify facts before dissemination. He said such irresponsible journalism not only harms innocent individuals but also misleads the public and weakens the collective fight against terrorism.

Reaffirming his professional integrity, Yahaya stated that his track record in military service, modest lifestyle, and unwavering commitment to national security stand in clear contradiction to the accusations. He demanded an immediate public retraction from Ali-Keffi and all individuals or organisations circulating the claims.

The former Army Chief warned that failure to withdraw the allegations would compel him to seek legal redress to protect his name and restore public confidence. He added that Nigeria’s fight against terrorism requires honesty, patriotism, and responsible conduct, not propaganda or personal grudges disguised as whistleblowing.

The issue of Terrorism should not be Political in order to wave ways for others indirectly but we need to Pray harder to Almighty God to expose all those that have hands in TERRORISM who ever they are and wherever they may be in Nigeria .
I urge, everyone of us to say , ‘Oh God ,The Beneficiant The Merciful , The Creator and Controller of The Heavens and Earths expose me beyond any reasonable doubt if I have hands in TERRORISM with immediate effects AMEN 🤲🤲🤲 .’
The above is for all Nigerians please .
This should be said personally between you and your God regardless of your Religious inclinations if you have no hand in One Way or the other and see what will happen within a month .
WE MUST BE SINCERE IN WHATEVER WE DO BEFORE THE LAST DAY WHICH IS DEFINITELY COMING .
