Governor Abubakar Bagudu of Kebbi state says the security of lives and property of the people of the state remains the utmost priority of his administration.
He made the affirmation on Friday while addressing parents, staff and students of Federal Government College Yauri, during an on-the-spot assessment of the situation on ground.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to governor, Abubakar Dakingari made available to ASHENEWS on quoted Bagudu as placing “premium on the provision logistics and necessary equipment to security agencies” in order to wage total war against banditry and all acts of criminality until normality and tranquility were restored.
Bagudu vowed that all students and teachers abducted by bandits from the College, would be rescued fully and additional security would be provided to all institutions of learning.
He commended all security agencies in the state for their quick response, which led to the rescue of some abducted students and teachers.
The governor showed appreciation to parents and guardians for remaining calm and courageous on the matter, as well as sustaining prayers to God for his intervention.
Bagudu visited the Yauri General Hospital to sympathizing with victims of attack by bandits along Yauri-Anaba-Kontagora road this Friday during which he settled their medical bills.
He also paid homage to the Emir of Yauri at his Palace and assured that the state government had increased security presence in the area with further support to volunteer and vigilante groups.
In response, the Emir, Dr. Muhammadu Zayyanu Abdullahi commended the governor for placing priority on security matters, urging him to deploy more security personnel to Yauri – Kongatora axis towards curtailing acts of kidnapping along the way.
In separate remarks, the Chairman Parents-Teachers Association who is the member, Kebbi State House of Assembly representing Ngaski Constituncy Adamu B.B B/Yauri, the Chairman Ngaski Local Government, Abdullahi Buhari Warrah, the School Principal Mallam Mustapha Yusuf as well as parents and guardians of students expressed gratitude to security agencies for their prompt response to rescuing the abducted staff and students.
The governor was accompanied on the visit by the Secretary to the State Government, Chief of Staff Government House, acting Head of Service, Commissioners, Special Adviser Security, House of Assembly Members, the State Commissioner of Police, Director SSS and heads of other security agencies.
