Recall that in 2017, a Nigerian online newspaper, Daily Nigerian, released some videos showing former Kano state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje allegedly collecting kickbacks from contractors, amounting to $5 million.
The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) has summoned ex-Governor Abdullahi for interrogation over the controversial dollar videos.
The videos showed the former governor collecting the dollars, and rolling them into his white robe, “babanriga”, but the ex-governor had denied the allegation, saying the videos were doctored.
Recently he filed a suit at a federal high court seeking perpetual injunction against the EFCC from investigating him.
But speaking Wednesday at a one-day public dialogue on ‘Anti-Corruption Crusade in Kano’, Barr. Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado, chairman of PCACC, said the authenticity of the videos had been confirmed.
In a statement issued by spokesperson of the anti-graft agency, Kabir Abba Kabir on Thursday, said the commission Chairman, Barr. Muhuyi Magaji Rimigado has invited the former governor so as to give him fair hearing.
The statement said the former governor is expected to be at the commission by next week for interrogation.
“A, invitation has been sent to Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje to make himself available for interrogation, in line with the provision of the law,” the statement said.
