The National Information and Technology Development Agency, NITDA, has trained 100 youths on phone repairs.
In the training, which is under the Zamfara state ICT capacity development programme, the youths were also trained on the techniques of accessing online information and use of Excel and Microsoft Word.
Speaking at the end of the two weeks training and presentation of start up tools and capital, an Assistant Director department of IT infrastrure and Solutions, of the Agency, Mr Lawrence Dirisu said the training was aimed at bridging the digital divide and empowering the youth to become self reliant.
“We are proving these tools for the artisans and of course, tools like the tools box, tablet pc to be able to assess information online and stipend of N10,000,” he said.
Governor Bello Muhammed, represented by the Commissioner of Science and Technology, Lawal Abubakar Zannah, described the training as timely, considering the rate of unemployed youth in the state.
He warned the youth against selling the tablet pc, promising that the state government would assist them to acquire business stands.
“We don’t expect any of them to sell the tools so that they could work and become employers of Labour as well as become self-reliant,” Zannah said.
