The European Union (EU) will receive at least 15 billion cubic metres of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States (U.S.) this year. This would be an effort to wean itself off Russian gas imports, U.S. President Joe Biden said on Friday. The Supreme Court on Friday upheld the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister 22 political parties. The electoral umpire had deregistered 74 political parties in 2020 by following their dismal performances in previous elections and the parties sued INEC for the act, which case led up to the Supreme court. Niger state governor, Abubakar Bello says insecurity has reduced as a result of beef up of security in the 12 local government areas affected by activities of terrorists in the state. The Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security in Edo, Stephen Idehenre says the state has attracted about $531.2 million from nine firms in the oil palm sector through the state oil palm programme.
