The National Industrial Court, Lagos Division has fixed August 24 to deliver ruling in applications filed by two unions seeking to be joined in a suit filed against the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) by some of its affiliate unions. Nigeria’s Military Pensions Board (MPB) on Thursday said it had paid the third tranche of 25 per cent of the 24 months arrears of the National Minimum Wage increment to eligible retirees. The Chairman of the board, Rear Adm. Saburi Lawal, in a statement issued in Abuja, said that the payment was made on Thursday. The Biovaccines Nigeria Ltd. is partnering Biofarma Indonesia Pharmaceutical Manufacturing for production of vaccines in the country. The Chairman, Biovaccines Nigeria Ltd., Dr Oyewale Tomori, made this known during a courtesy visit of the Indonesian Ambassador, Dr Usra Harahap and his team to the company on Thursday in Lagos. The federal government has obtained a $134 million loan from the Africa Development Bank (AfDB)to boost wheat production. Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr Muhammad Mahmoud, said this in Abuja, while briefing State House correspondents on the implementation of the presidential mandate given to the ministry. He explained that the aim was to save the country from acute scarcity of wheat, whose demand and price had gone high because of the Russia-Ukraine war. South Korea reported 107,894 new COVID-19 cases as of midnight Wednesday compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 20,160,154, the health authorities said Thursday.
