Nigerian government in collaboration with the Islamic Development Bank and Gombe state government will partner to establish three boarding Bilingual Almajiri schools in Gombe state. Mr Babaji Babadidi, Executive Chairman, Gombe State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), stated this in an interview in Gombe on Thursday. He said the schools would be cited in Dogonruwa, Gombe south, Garin Hardo, Gombe central and Tudun wada central senatorial districts. Oil prices rose on Thursday as robust U.S. fuel consumption data and expected falls in Russian supply, later in the year, offset concerns that a possible recession in developed economies could undercut demand. Nigeria’s Central Bank (CBN) says citizens can now subscribe to the digital currency using short codes as part of efforts to improve the acceptability of the eNaira. Lagos state government has announced the ban of commercial motorcycle (popularly known as okada) operations in four more local governments (LGs) and six Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs). The Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde made the announcement on Thursday in Ikeja, during a news briefing on the Phase 2 Total Ban on Motorcycle Operations. At least 16 people have died and a further 36 are missing after a flash flood in north-western China, according to a report on state television on Thursday. The flash floods occurred on Wednesday evening in the mountains in Datong County near the city of Xining in Qinghai Province, after heavy rainfall. The downpours triggered landslides that blocked and diverted rivers, affecting more than 6,000 people in two towns and six villages, the report said.
