The Federal High Court Abuja has said ex-Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, and his co-defendants, have a case to answer in the N712 million naira money-laundering charges filed against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. EFCC is prosecuting Lamido on 37 amended charges, alongside two of his sons, Aminu and Mustapha Lamido. Gong Dao’an, former deputy mayor and police chief of east China’s Shanghai Municipality, was sentenced to life in prison for taking bribes. The Intermediate People’s Court of Tangshan in Hebei Province announced this on Wednesday. Deng Huilin, former deputy mayor of southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for taking bribes. The Intermediate People’s Court of Baoding in Hebei Province announced the sentence on Wednesday. Deng, who was also head of the local public security bureau, was also given a 4-million-yuan ($575,242) fine as part of the penalty. An Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State has sentenced a banker, Blessing Bassey to seven years imprisonment for stealing N2.68 million from a bank. The Chief Magistrate , F.M. Kayode-Alamu sentenced Bassey following her change of plea from not guilty to guilty.
