Nigerian government has selected Ethiopian Airlines (ET) Consortium as preferred bidder for Nigeria Air. The Minister of Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika disclosed this during a media briefing in Abuja on Friday. According to him, Ethiopian Airlines scored 89 per cent out of 100 on technical bid and 15 out 20 on financial bid. The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC), has shared N673.137 billion to the three tiers of government as federation allocation for August. This is contained in a statement issued by Mr Phil Abiamuwe-Mowete, the Director (Information/Press) on Friday. The federal government received N259.641 billion, the states received N222.949 billion, and the Local Government Councils got N164.247 billion. The N673.137 billion was inclusive of Gross Statutory Revenue, Value Added Tax (VAT), and an Augmentation of Non Oil Excess Revenue. The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has approached the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja, asking it to set aside the judgement of the National Industrial Court (NIC) that ordered to call off its over seven-month old strike action. The Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) says it has sealed 342 pharmacy and patent medicine outlets, just as it arrested one person in Ogun. The Director of Enforcement, Mr Stephen Esumobi made this known while addressing journalists on Friday in Abeokuta. There are reports of flooding across all the riverine local government areas of Benue, the state Commissioner for Water Resources and Environment Godwin Oyiwona has said. He said on Friday that all the local government areas on riverine areas and few others were affected.
