Death toll from the attack by suspected bandits in Giwa local government area of Kaduna state on Saturday rose from 20 to 38. The U.S. government on Friday imposed sanctions on Ali Darassa, a militia leader in Central African Republic (CAR) whose forces it accused of murder, torture, rape and kidnapping. The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Tin Can Island command on Saturday confirmed the interception of a container suspected to be laden with arms and ammunition. The spokesperson of the command, Uche Ejesieme confirmed the interception in a statement.
