An agriculture expert, Prof. Victor Olowe, has called for the promotion of organic farming, due to the prevalence of carcinogenic contents in crops grown with artificial fertilizers. Olowe, the President of the Association of Organic Agriculture Practitioners of Nigeria (AOAPN), made this call in an interview in Lagos on Tuesday. A nine-year-old girl was attacked and killed by a crocodile while walking on a riverside path with her sister in Indonesia’s West Sumatra province, a search official said on Tuesday. The UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), on Monday launched a comprehensive response plan for the Horn of Africa as more than $138 million is needed to assist rural communities affected by extended drought in the region. The National Bureau of Statistics has said that in December 2021, Nigeria’s inflation rate has risen to 15.63 percent from 15.50 percent recorded in November. The Statistician-General of the Federation, Dr. Simon Harry, disclosed this during a press briefing on Monday.
