The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike, says the N1.15 trillion 2024 proposed FCT Statutory Budget was designed to transform the capital city and rural communities. Wike stated this when he appeared before the Senate and House Committees on FCT, to defend the proposed statutory budget, in Abuja on Monday. He explained that out of the N1.15 trillion, N421.44 billion was earmarked as recurrent expenditure, representing 36.7 percent, while N726.3 billion was set aside for capital expenditure, representing 63.3 percent. The Nigerian Exchange Ltd. (NGX) market capitalization on Monday closed on a negative note, losing N239 billion. Specifically, the market capitalisation which opened at N59.416 trillion, lost 0.40 per cent or N239 billion to close at N59.177 trillion. Similarly, the All-Share Index also declined by 0.40 percent or 422 points to close at 104,663.34, as against 105.085.25 recorded on Friday. The Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunizations (GAVI) has stated that MenFive is poised to revolutionize meningitis prevention efforts in Africa. The Senior Programme Manager, Vaccine Implementation at Gavi (Meningitis programme lead), Ms Cassandra Quintanilla, said this in an interview on Monday in Abuja.
