Abstract: This article examines the innovative approach to policing implemented by Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Muhammad Usaini Gumel during his tenure as Commissioner of Police in Kano State, Nigeria. AIG Gumel’s emphasis on community and intelligence-led policing led to significant reductions in crime rates and improved relationships between law enforcement and the community.
