The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), says it will begin another round of voter registration in the first quarter of 2021. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed concern over fresh plans by the Federal Government to secure an additional US$1.2 billion loan from the Brazilian Government. The Kebbi state government has commenced the free registration of Nigeria’ Youth Investment Fund (NYIF), for youths across the state. The National Human Rights Commission panel of investigation into the allegations of human rights violations against the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) has received 150 complaints. The Executive Secretary of the commission, Mr Tony Ojukwu, who made this known at the inaugural sitting of the Independent Investigative Panel on Human Rights Violations, said that the petitions were received from the six geo-political zones and the FCT. A Nigerian, Ms Esther Agbaje, has been elected into the Minnesota House of Representatives in Tuesday’s U.S. general elections. She will represent District 59B in the 134-member House on the platform of the Democratic-Farmer–Labor Party (DFL), an affiliate of U.S. Democratic Party. Esther, 35, won by a landslide, polling 17,396 votes or 74.7 per cent of the total ballots cast. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) says it seeks swift completion of its ongoing renegotiations with the Federal government to suspend the lingering industrial action. The Dangote Group says its two billion-dollar granulated urea fertiliser plant located at Ibeju Lekki, Lagos will begin operation before the end of December. Police on Wednesday said Zimbabwean journalist, Hopewell Chin’ono was re-arrested, after authorities accused him of contempt of court for using Twitter. Police spokesperson Paul Nyathi told dpa that “I can confirm that Hopewell Chin’ono was arrested on Tuesday and is currently in police custody waiting to appear in court.
