The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday said that the objective of expanding the polling unit is to address low voter turnout, among others. The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Jigawa, Dr. Mahmuda Isah, said this at a stakeholders’ meeting on expanding voter access to polling units in Dutse. The federal government says African countries must urgently find solution to challenges arising from the death of Chadian President, Idriss Deby, who was killed while fighting the Chadian rebels on Monday. Supreme Court Justice Ejembi Eko, has called for the removal of immunity of president and governors who go against the provisions of the electoral act. The Nigerian constitution provides immunity for lserving president or governor and cannot therefore be prosecuted for any alleged infractions of the country’s law while still in office. The Okordia-Rumekpe 14-inch crude truckline operated by Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) has discharged some 213 barrels of crude oil into Ikarama community in Bayelsa. The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) on Thursday insisted that each state must implement its self-accounting law in dealing with Internally Generated Revenue.
