The Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf has called on President Bola Tinubu to reopen land borders to allow food importation, and fight food insecurity in the country. The administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari shut all land borders to check smuggling, especially of rice as well as encourage local consumption. To enhance power supply, the Nigerian government plans to boost electricity generation capacity from 4,000 to 6,000 megawatts in three to six months. The Minister of Power, Mr Adebayo Adelabu disclosed this during a meeting with the heads of power agencies and other stakeholders in Abuja on Monday. According to him, the 4,000 megawatts of power generation is not acceptable. Bandits who abducted 16 residents of Gonin Gora community in Chikun local government of Kaduna state have reportedly demanded N40 trillion, 11 Hilux vans, and 150 motorcycles as ransom in exchange for their release.
