Two farmers in Kebbi have been honoured by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for their prompt repayment of the loan they obtained from the bank. Alhaji Almustapha Mai-Gwandu was honoured with the Farmer of the Year Award, while Mr John Yah was the runner up. The two received certificates and undisclosed monetary reward. The Niger state government has announced the outbreak of avian influenza (flu) in a cluster of poultry farms in the state. The Information Officer, Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries, Mr Abubakar Kuta, stated this in a statement made available to newsmen on Thursday in Minna. Poultry in the state were being infected by type A flu. The statement disclosed that thousands of birds in the state, worth millions of naira, had been lost to the flu. The World Health Organisation, WHO, has said that an estimated 1.4 million fewer people received care for tuberculosis (TB) in 2020 than in 2019, according to preliminary data from over 80 countries- a reduction of 21% from 2019.
